Budget Secretary Amenah “Mina” Pangandaman said the President gave the order in recognition of the important role of poll workers. The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has finalized the funding to implement the increase.

“As instructed by President Bongbong Marcos, our teachers and poll workers will receive a ₱2,000 increase for the 2025 elections,” Pangandaman said.

She praised poll workers for their hard work and sacrifice during elections. “We know they endure long hours, stress, and sleepless nights to guard our votes,” she added. “That’s why we didn’t hesitate when the President told us to improve their benefits.”

The new honoraria rates are:

  • ₱12,000 for the chairperson (up from ₱10,000)
  • ₱11,000 for the poll clerk and third member (up from ₱9,000)
  • ₱8,000 for support staff (up from ₱6,000)

The 2025 national budget has allocated ₱7.48 billion for 758,549 poll workers, according to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

Under the Election Service Reform Act and COMELEC Resolution No. 10194, poll workers also get travel, communication, and meal allowances, as well as service credits.

Pangandaman called on COMELEC and other agencies to release the compensation on time.

“Our teachers and poll workers deserve to receive their benefits without delay,” she said.
