The holiday season in the Philippines feels incomplete without the signature celebrations that define it.
In addition to the traditional feasts and family gatherings, watching movies on Christmas Day has become a cherished custom for many Filipino households.
The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) was born out of this inspiration, launching in 1975 with the main objective of encouraging audiences to support Filipino films during the Christmas season. At the same time, it aimed to ignite the creativity of local filmmakers to develop fresh and innovative ideas annually.
For its 2024 edition, the MMFF embraces the theme "Sinesigla sa Singkwenta," showcasing 10 competing entries—a notable increase from the usual eight.
