Sometimes, there are people who are blessed not only with physical beauty but also with a healthy and intelligent mind.
Laica Pauline Uy has demonstrated that she is more than just a pretty face. In addition to graduating cum laude, she also ranked among the top scorers in the May 2024 Philippine Nursing Licensure Exam (PNLE).
This young lady from Cebu graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Velez College.

She is the only board taker from Cebu who entered the prestige list of topnotchers, where she landed top 9.
Aside from being an achiever in the academic world, she also excels in the pageantry world. In fact, she was one of the finalists in Miss Cebu 2023, where she also got two special awards: “Most Confident” and Fashion Forward Filipina Award.
Laica believes that a person should not be limited to just one area, so she tried various other activities, which is why she participated in many extra-curricular activities while studying.
“Looking back four years later, I am so glad I made that decision and that I am able to serve people,” Uy shared in an interview with CDN Digital as she reminisced about her time as a nursing student.
The top scorer in the nursing exam elaborated that despite her roles as a beauty queen, an organization member, and a volunteer differing from her experience as a student nurse, Uy mentioned that she acquired skills in interpersonal interaction and confidence-building—many of which were not acquired within the confines of a classroom.
“The classroom taught me lessons, but these experiences taught me life lessons,” she said.
