MANILA, Philippines – Basketball player Marc Pingris has spoken up about the spreading "cheating issue" involving him and actress Kim Rodriguez.

Netizens were abuzz about Kim and Marc on Wednesday, March 27, due to a blind item circulating on forum site "Reddit" and other entertainment sites.
Netizens were intrigued by the two, as they appeared to be together in Sydney, Australia, supposedly due to the similarity of their backgrounds in a photo taken at the Sydney Opera House. Furthermore, their shoes seemed to be of the same color and style, resembling "couple shoes," as some speculated.
In another report from Fashion Pulis, another picture shows both of them posing with the staff of a popular flavored French fries kiosk.
After the issue erupted, a friend of Marc's wife, Danica Sotto, daughter of Vic Sotto and Dina Bonnevie, defended Marc against the intrigues. She said she believes that the accusations made by the “marites” against the "Pinoy Sakuragi" are unfounded.
“Ay nako. He [won't] do that. Maraming priorities si Marc. They have a beautiful family,” Pebbles Duque said.
In another Facebook post, Pebbles mentioned that the suspicious photo was taken on February 16, while Kim had only recently posted pictures in March.
“My besfriend Danica and him have a very beautiful family.”
“Holy week na, dasal na lang po tayo para naman mabawasan yung mga kasalanan natin,” she reiterated.
In the comment section of the post, Danica's friend herself, Danica, and another friend tagged in the post named Van Antonio-Fernandez, can be seen commenting.
“kalma miga! we love you,” Danica said.
Pebbles replied, “Danica Anna Sotto-Pingris buti ka pa, kalma!”
“ate pebs! tayo hindi kalma, gigil! Hahaha,” Van said.
On Thursday afternoon, March 28, Marc posted a statement about the issue.
“Walang katotohanan ang mga lumalabas na balita tungkol [sa amin] ni Ms. Kim Rodriguez,” he emphasized.
“Walang namamagitan sa aming dalawa gaya ng sinasabi ng ibang tao.”
“Nakasama ko po si Ms. Kim sa isang basketball event at sa isa pang event noong naging muse siya ng team namin. Salamat din sa nag pa abot ng concern. Ok kami ng pamilya ko.”
“Wag na po tayo magpakalat ng mga balita na hindi totoo. Humihingi po kami ng respeto para hindi madamay ang mga anak namin ni Danica. Salamat po at God bless po.”
Meanwhile, there hasn't been any statement yet from Kim's camp and her talent manager, Ogie Diaz.
