MANILA, Philippines – Some local government units announced suspension of classes for today, October 13, 2023 (Monday) following the magnitude 5.0 earthquake that hit Calaca, Batangas and was felt in Metro Manila.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) advised that damage and aftershocks may be expected.

Local officials said classes were suspended to give way for the mandatory inspection of school buildings.
Here's the list of class suspensions for Friday, October 13, 2023:
Metro Manila
- Muntinlupa City - all levels, public schools only
Calabarzon
- Batangas province - all levels, public and private
- Cavite
- Alfonso - all levels, public and private; shift to modular learning
- Laguna
- Bay - all levels, public and private
- Cabuyao City - all levels; public and private (half-day)
- Lumban - all levels, public and private (half-day)
- Pangil - all levels, public and private
- San Pedro - all levels, public schools only
- Sta. Cruz - elementary to high school
