Antipolo, a quick getaway from the metro

MANILA, Philippines – Long weekends make us feel like we have "itchy feet", yet most of us always think that a vacation equates to traveling via plane and booking a fancy hotel. But if you feel like you have to take a break while having less on your pockets, there is a nearby place from the metro, waving to you to take a quick weekend – Antipolo.
Antipolo, a quick getaway from the metro

Planning your day trip here doesn't require much effort. It is very accessible in any transportation mode: either hop on an FX from Cubao, ride the LRT-2, commute via jeep, or have your own private vehicle. It is just a 1.5 hour trip from the metro, after which you can explore the city in a day, or have an overnight stay at a nearby resort or hotel in the area.

Visit Pinto Art Museum

One of the most visited places in Antipolo is the IG-worthy Pinto Art Museum. Established in 2010 by Dr. Joven Cuanang, the museum showcases primitive and contemporary art collections.

Located in Grand Heights Subdivision, this art complex will surely delight your eyes and your social media feeds as well. You can enjoy the art pieces, have your morning coffee break and munch on their restaurants if you get hungry.

A tip of advice, go here in their 10 AM opening schedule if you want to avoid crowds and enjoy selfies and photos less the photobombers. The museum is big enough to spend at least two hours and have a relaxing morning until mid-afternoon.

Open during Tuesday to Sunday from 10AM to 6 PM, entrance fee costs Php 250 for adults/regular, Php 125 for students, and Php 200 for senior citizens and PWDs. You can visit their website https://www.pintoart.org to know more.

Another tip, if you're into curating your IG feeds, have your fancy outfits, you can never go wrong with it. :)

Overlooking metro view from Cloud 9

Finishing your museum visit and feeding your eyes, you'll surely get a need to feed your stomach. A lot of fast-foods and fancy restaurants are in the area, so just take a pick and satisfy your hunger. To name a crowd favorite, this is the Cloud 9 Sports and Leisure Club, or simply, Cloud 9.

From the city center, it is very accessible that there is a bus that passes by Cloud 9. No reservations needed, you can enjoy the breath-taking view of the city's skyscrapers while dining in their restaurant.

Food price here is fair enough given that you can enjoy walking the Skybridge and climbing in the 360° view deck if you dine with a 300-peso minimum receipt amount per head. But if you're not into the food and you just wanted to enjoy the activities, there is a Php 60 to shell out for the Skybridge and view deck.

Best time to go? A city skyline view with the daylight on is beautiful, but city lights illuminating your night is just fantastic! Try spending this place with your barkada, family, a loved one, or even go solo for a breath of fresh air.

To cap off your night, you can have a sip of your evening coffee from nearby coffee shops or have a cold bottle of beer, just enough to close your Antipolo quick weekend trip, refreshed, and ready to face another week ahead of us all. :)
