GUIDE: 2020-2021 bar exam passers online clearance, oathtaking

MANILA, Philippines – Congratulations to all the passers of record-high 2020-2021 Bar Exam!

Out of 11,402 Bar takers who finished exams, 8,241 or 72.28% passed the first-ever digital and regionalized bar exams.

The Supreme Court (SC) announced Wednesday, April 13, that passers are required to obtain a clearance from the Office of the Bar Confidant (OBC) subject to identity and records verification prior to the oathtaking and signing of the roll of attorneys.

Similar to 2019 bar exam, clearance procedure for this year's Bar Passers will be conducted completely online.

Bar Passers are required to follow this procedure:

1. The successful bar examinees shall receive an email from the OBC through their Bar PLUS registered e-mail addresses before the scheduled oathtaking stating whether clearances to take the oath and sign the Roll of Attorneys will be given or the reason for denial.

NOTE: The e-mail from the OBC will come from any of the following e-mail address accounts.
  • obc.clearance1.sc@judiciary.gov.ph
  • obc.clearance2.sc@judiciary.gov.ph
  • obc.clearance3.sc@judiciary.gov.ph
  • obc.clearance4.sc@judiciary.gov.ph
  • obc.clearance5.sc@judiciary.gov.ph

SC said that all queries or replies sent to the aforementioned email address accounts will not be entertained.

2. All queries concerning the clearance procedure should be addressed to the OBC Helpdesk at obc.helpdesk.sc@judiciary.gov.ph or call (02) 85529690.

3. Those who are given clearances shall print the e-mail sent by the OBC and present it during the oath-taking ceremony as proof of their clearance. On the other hand, those who are not given clearances may file their Petitions to Take the Lawyer's Oath after the roll signing those who are granted clearances, provided they have submitted the required documents within the prescribed period or have been cleared of the charges filed against them.

Oathtaking schedule and venue

Oath taking of successful bar examinees will be on May 2, 2022 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City, said 2020/21 bar exams chairperson SC Associate Justice Marvic Leonen.
