MANILA, Philippines – Beatrice Gomez fell short of winning the fifth Miss Universe crown for the Philippines in the grand coronation in Eilat, Israel on Monday, December 13.
A native of Cebu, Gomez was among 80 candidates who competed for 70th Miss Universe crown.
In the Top 5 question and answer (Q&A) round, Gomez was asked about her opinion on mandating universal vaccine passport.
"I believe the public health is everyone's responsibility, and to mandate vaccination is necessary. If mandating vaccine passports would help regulate rollout of vaccine and mitigate the pandemic situation today, then I am for it," Gomez said.
The pageant is still ongoing at the Universe Dome, Eilat in Israel.
