Ma. Ernida Peralta was like any other nursing graduate who wishes to become a licensed professional. But her road to success was not an easy one as it took her eight long years.

After graduating in 2013, she sat for her first Nursing Licensure Exam. All of her previous attempts after that have ended in failure. Each failure Ernida faced only strengthened her determination to pursue her dream of becoming a registered nurse. Ernida credits her family's encouragement for encouraging her to continue and pursue her dream.

In July of 2021, after seven failed attempts, she finally succeeded in realizing her lifelong goal. After eight years, she finally aced the board exam.

It was not an easy road to her success as she faced several setbacks. Among those is the cancellation of the NLE just a week after she applied. She got her hopes back when it was re-scheduled for July 2021. Another concern for her was the RT-PCR requirement for exam takers. All things worked out for her eventually, as she tested negative for COVID-19 and took the exam.

When the exam results were released, Ernida anxiously viewed it along with her family. She jumped for joy and they celebrated in happiness when they saw her name on the list of board passers.

"Pangarap ko ito mula noong kabataan ko. Gustong-gusto ko talaga. Napakasarap sa pakiramdam. Finally after 8 years!" the newly registered nurse exclaimed.

Ernida described how it felt to achieve success after the many failed tries she had to endure. "'Yun bang pakiramdam na ilang beses kang lumaban, sumubok at nadapa," she added.

"Tapos nung nasa dulo ka na.. nawawalan ka na ng pag-asa, tapos nakamit ko ang pangarap na ang tagal ko ng pinagsisikapan," Ernida remarked.

Ernida has been taking the board exam since 2013 while working full-time. She juggles her job as a mother of three children. She is currently working as a nurse attendant in a private hospital in Pagadian City.
