Dela Rosa submitted his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Friday, October 8 — the last day of filing.

The former national police chief, who led President Rodrigo Duterte's drug war, will team up with the president's longtime aide, Senator Christopher "Bong" Go.

The tandem was dubbed "Ba-Go 2022" by the factions' secretary Melvin Matibag.

What if Sara Duterte substitutes for dela Rosa?

Dela Rosa said it would be better if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio changes her mind to run in his stead for the presidential race.

“Eh di mas maganda? But this is a party decision, this is not my personal decision. Kasi kung ako lang ang masusunod, kung papatakbuhin nila ako, tatakbo pa rin ako," he said.

Dela Rosa added that Duterte-Carpio has not joined the PDP-Laban yet.

“Hindi (siya member). I don’t know how we will do it kung gano’n ang mangyari. I don’t know. Basta ako tatakbo talaga ako para maging presidente,” he said.

The Davao City mayor stressed that she is eyeing third consecutive term before serving in another post.

Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte earlier said to retire from politics after his term.

For the 2022 elections, substitutions are allowed until November 15. A substitute can take oath in the original candidate's party until this date.
