Around her neck were the Olympic gold medal and the medallion of the Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. According to Diaz, despite her hard work and sacrifices in training, she still couldn't believe that she won the coveted gold. "Thank you, thank you for all the prayers. Grabe si God," she said.

When asked how she is feeling after winning the country's first gold, Diaz said she is still in awe. "Hindi ako makapaniwala. Hindi ako makapaniwala na mauuwi ko 'to (shows the gold medal). Thank you so much sa team HD at sa lahat ng sumuporta sa akin," Diaz said.

"Thank you so much for believing in me.

While she may seem confident on stage, Diaz admitted she prepared mentally for her performance. Aside from training physically, Diaz reveals how she motivates herself everyday.

The whole day, the whole week sinasabi ko, I believe, I believe at saka prepared ako.

"I'm really thankful. Grabe si God," she said while breathing deeply to calm her emotions.

The Olympic gold medalist also recalled the many challenges and sacrifices she endured in her journey. She revealed that she sacrificed not seeing her parents for years and stopped going to school so she could focus on her training. But everything fell into place as she finally achieved her dream.

"Sa totoo lang, ang dami 'kong pinagdaanan. After winning Olympic, syempre kailangan mgsustain. So, we decided to stop my school para makapag, training. I have to sacrifice a lot. Hindi ko nakasama ang Nanay at Tatay ko months, for many years na. Then sa training, masakit, lahat masakit. Pero may plano si God."

She recalled how they were stuck in Malaysia due to the pandemic. "Sa lahat ng pinagdaanan ko, may reason si God," she said.
