MANILA, Philippines – The director and one of the actors of the upcoming movie 'Tililing' has responded to Liza Soberano's criticism of its poster.
Director Darryl Yap addressed Liza Soberano after the actress tweeted her dissatisfaction over the movie’s poster. The controversial poster shows actors sticking their tongues out seemingly to show that they are acting crazy. Liza disagreed with the implication of the poster and said it seems to imply that mental health is a joke and disagrees with it.
Liza earlier tweeted, "Really hoping that this movie will spread awareness and enlighten us on the struggles of dealing with mental health. But the poster? It’s a no for me. Mental health is NOT a joke. Stop the stigma."
On Facebook, Direk Darryl responded to Liza's tweet and assured her that the movie will not fail her in showing the importance of mental health education.
The director went on to say that the artists involved in the movie have their own struggles on mental health and bravely accepted the project because they understood the film.
He went on to assure Liza that once she watches the movie, she will understand the reason for the title and even the intention of the movie poster's theme. Direk Darryl said they are one with Liza on her mental health advocacy. "Kaisa po ninyo kami sa inyong adbokasiya. Maraming Salamat po," he said.
Meanwhile, Baron, who is also one of the actors on the post couldn't help but share his own fair share of mental health struggles. He showed his support to Direk Darryl by reposting the director's explanation and added his own thoughts on the issue.
Baron wrote, "'Di siguro alam ng mga tao na I was once a PMHA (Philippine Mental Health Association) Cebu warrior. I still battle with the sickness everyday and it's no joke to wake up and fight for your life EVERY SINGLE DAY. Funny because on Feb 14 me and my wife Jamie Marie Geisler will be going to Davao for a radio tour on mental health. Weird or swak at sakto lalabas din ang #Tililing #fightthestigma #CarryOn #YouAreNotAlone #bekindtooneanother."
