Metro Manila, Davao City, 8 other areas under GCQ in March

MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday, February 26, 2021 retained the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) classification of the National Capital Region (NCR), Davao City and Baguio City.

Also placed under GCQ are Batangas and some areas of Cordillera Administrative Region for Luzon; Tacloban City for the Visayas; Iligan City and Lanao del Sur for Mindanao.

The following areas will be under GCQ for the entire month of March:
  • Metro Manila
  • Cordillera Administrative Region: Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province
  • Region 4: Batangas
  • Region 8: Tacloban City
  • Region 10: Iligan City
  • Region 11: Davao City
  • BARMM: Lanao del Sur

All other areas are placed under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).

Improving COVID – 19 situation in Cordillera

Department of Health (DOH) -Cordillera Medical Officer IV Dr. Jennifer Joyce Pira recently reported an improving COVID – 19 situations in the region with the epidemic level down to “low risk”.

Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao and Mountain Province, including Baguio City are under low risk, while Kalinga is under moderate risk epidemic level, she said.

The National Task Force raised the community quarantine status of Cordillera from MGCQ to GCQ this month as the region reached high risk epidemic level during the first month of 2021.

It was in Bontoc, an area in the Cordillera region, where 12 cases of the new UK virus variant were found.
