MANILA, Philippines – The Pinoy Big Brother fever continues to rise as the famous house will open its doors for Filipino dreamers on December 6, 2020 (Sunday) for the ninth main season of the reality show called "PBB Connect."
In partnership with online streaming platform Kumu, ABS-CBN aims to "provide hope and strengthen connections among Filipinos during this pandemic" with the return of the popular reality competition.
The Kapamilya network held auditions for PBB Connect between October 19 and November 11 on Kumu. It attracted 177,524 aspiring housemates, the highest audition turnout in the history of the show.
Official housemates
PBB invited 14 aspiring housemates from the pool of auditionees to travel to Manila for the next round of auditions.
Six (6) of the 14 housemates headed for Manila hail from Luzon, one (1) came from Visayas, four (4) are from Mindanao, two (2) are from Metro Manila, and one (1) auditioned from overseas. They now need to pass their medical, psychological, and COVID exams to become full-fledged housemates. 15 people were supposed to complete Kuya’s housemates this season, but one decided not to pursue with their journey. (UPDATE: 15th housemate from France finally decided to join PBB and was revealed on December 18).
NOTE: Those who did not make it still have a chance to be part of PBB 9th season as Big Kuya is opening up more slots. The lucky housemates will be chosen from among those who auditioned and accomplished Kuya’s different tasks via livestream on Kumu.
During the online Kumulitan show with PBB host Robi Domingo and PBB 'Otso' housemate Lie Reposposa, they revealed that 18 aspiring housemates will be taking part this season.
