MANILA, Philippines – John Regala became emotional as he apologized to broadcast journalist Raffy Tulfo.

Tulfo has been one of the celebrities who extended their support to Regala as he continues his battle against liver cirrhosis. Tulfo earlier promised to give P100,000 to help Regala with his medical and personal needs.

Recently, Nadia Montenegro, Chuckie Dreyfus and Aster Amoyo issued a joint statement saying that they have decided to discontinue their support to Regala. The group said that as much as they want to help the veteran actor, he has been a difficult and uncooperative patient. They also cited that they cannot tolerate Regala's abusive self-medication.

Following the group's statement against him, Regala appeared on Tulfo's online show via Facebook Messenger to explain his side on the matter.

Regala shared how he felt embarrassed about the statement of Nadia's group. He said they misinterpreted his behavior and the reason why he wanted to leave the hospital was because he was worried over the bills.

The former actor also asked Tulfo if he had offended him.

Tulfo assured Regala that he understood his situation. He said his father also suffered from liver cirrhosis and knew how it changes the patient's behavior.

Tulfo said, "Ang mga taong may masakit, malubha, restless iyan sila eh dahil lagi nilang iniisip kelan dadating ang time na.. alam mo na.. at nghahanap sila ng attention and I can understand that."

Tulfo said he will continue to help Regala and offered to pay his hospital bills when he needs to return for treatment and medication.
