Heart Evangelista to give away free tablets to students for online classes

    MANILA, Philippines – Heart Evangelista announced that she is willing to give away tablets for less fortunate students who will be taking online classes.

    Recently, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said there will be no "face-to-face" classes this coming August. Even the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) advised colleges and universities to use virtual learning until the COVID-19 health crisis is settled. Due to this, many students and parents are already feeling the burden of purchasing gadgets required for virtual classes.

    On Twitter, Evangelista said she is reaching out to students who are in need of tablets for their online classes. Posting a photo of a Cherry tablet, Evangelista said she will give away tablets as many as she could.

    She tweeted, "I heard having a tablet or computer is a requirement for online classes so I will do the best I can. I’m sorry I can’t help everyone but I will try to help as much as I can."

    Evangelista tweeted again, "For those who don’t have tablets for online school please dm me on [Instagram]… I will be giving away as much tablets as I can."

    Though not known to many, Evangelista has been sending financial assistance to many of her followers online. She helped purchase medicines for the elderly, milk for babies, payment for dialysis, medication for cancer patients and many others.
