DOH reports first Filipino who recovered from COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) reported today the first Filipino who recovered from COVID-19, which brings the total number of recoveries to 3.

Recovered patient (PH14) is a 46-year-old Filipino male from Pasay City.

He has no travel history and no known exposure to confirmed cases.

He was admitted on March 5, 2020 at Makati Medical Center (MMC) and was confirmed with COVID-19 on March 9.

MMC confirmed that PH14 tested negative twice for COVID-19 and was officially discharged on Sunday, March 15.

The two previously announced recovered cases were PH1 and PH3, both Chinese women admitted at San Lazaro Hospital (SLH) in Manila.

DOH also said that five (5) confirmed cases with mild symptoms are under home quarantine based on the existing decision tool for the diagnosis and management of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, as of 12 noon today, the Health department reported two (2) new cases of viral disease, bringing the total cases to 142. The mortality as of Sunday is 12.
