Netizen seeks help for 82-year-old grandma who still sells in the streets

MANILA, Philippines – At age 82, Nanay Gloria Tupas still goes out to sell in the streets. She carries some heavy baskets filled with goods, ranging from junk food to candies to native kakanin. She got the attention of netizen Kring Man who sought help from everyone to do something for this old lady.

In her post on Facebook, Kring shared that Nanay Gloria often sells her goods at the sidewalk in front of HSBC at Northgate in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. She noticed that Nanay Gloria is often there, even late at night.

Considering that this woman looks so old, Kring finally decided to ask why she was still selling at her age. She learned that Nanay Gloria continues to sell despite her old age because she still has to support an 8-year-old grandchild. The kid is her only companion at home. The whereabouts of her kids are unknown, but this old woman has to work hard to make ends meet for her and her grandchild.

Taking pity on the old lady but also admiring her determination, Kring took some photos that she shared on her social media account. She hopes that through this, she could seek help for the old woman and her grandkid.

Quite surprisingly, the old woman even offered to do laundry for Kring! But the younger woman refused to let the old woman do that, joking that her clothes are too big and heavy for Nanay Gloria to wash. Instead, she asked help from netizens to find a new spot for Nanay Gloria to sell, perhaps near SM Molino or in nearby areas as she lives near there.

It is Nanay Gloria’s wish to have her own little house and store so she wouldn’t have to travel to sell, but considering that this is a big wish, Kring could only help on that request by sharing it so others could extend assistance.

She expressed thanks to the van drivers who let Nanay Gloria take a ride with her heavy basket but hopes that the old lady could find a nearer spot to sell her stuff.
