MANILA, Philippines – Team Philippines and Indonesia clash today, December 7 in the preliminary round of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games women's volleyball, a preview of their bronze medal match on Monday.

The National team, headed by veterans Aby Maraño and Alyssa Valdez, is hoping to gain momentum and clinch a win in the tournament. Previously, Indonesia won over Pinay spikers in five-set thriller while Thailand gave the Nationals a straight sets loss.

“Siyempre mas kailangan namin targetin na ipanalo hanggat maaari kasi yung momentum din,” coach Shaq Delos Santos of Philippine team told ABS-CBN News.

Philippines and Indonesia will duke it out at 6pm today at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City. The match will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, iWant and via livestream.

UPDATE: Philippines still winless after 4 sets loss to Indonesia, 25-22, 26-28, 22-25,14-25.


The loss to Thais was a game to remember for the Philippines as they pushed them to their limit especially in set 3 of the match, before eventually falling, 34-32.

Indonesians, the 2017 SEA Games silver medalists are coming off a sorry defeat at the hands of Vietnam led by Tran Thi Thanh Thuy known as T4 to Filipinos. They are playing without their star player April Manganang but the team will be bannered by Amalia Fajrina Nabila, Megawati Hangestri Perti and Ratri Wulandari.

Meanwhile, Thailand and Vietnam will face off on Monday for the gold medal match.
