The National team, headed by veterans Aby Maraño and Alyssa Valdez, is hoping to clinch a win in the tournament to salvage the pride as they are winless in the preliminary round.

Despite dropping all of their three matches in the round robin prelims including a 25-22, 26-28, 22-25, 14-25, defeat at the hands of Indonesia last Saturday, the Filipinas remain hopeful of their chance to redeem themselves and finish the biennial meet with a medal.

The last podium finish for Philippines was in 2005 when it bagged the bronze medal in Bacolod.

Meanwhile, the 11-time defending champion Thailand takes on Vietnam at 6:00 p.m. in the gold medal match.
