Back in June, Abzonie Reño became an inspiration for many when he was awarded as Caraga State University's first summa cum laude. Now, he proved to be a true role model as he adds another feather in his cap, as a LET topnotcher.

With his hardwork and determination, Abzonie ranked no. 7 with a rating of 91.20. Abzonie's story is proof that poverty is not a hindrance to success.

After finishing high school in 2008, he had to leave his hometown to try and find his luck in Metro Manila. He took several odd jobs to support his family back home. From being a factory worker, baker, security guard, janitor to a houseboy, Abzonie did everything to make ends meet.

While working, Abzonie dreamed of earning a degree to earn more for his family. So, he left Manila to go back and study at Caraga State University - Ampayon Butuan City campus. At age 23, Abzonie went back to college at took up a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Major in Math. He finished and awarded summa cum laude at the age of 27.

“Sobrang saya po, proud sa sarili kasi 'yun nga hindi ako bumalik ng pag-aaral para mag-excel bumalik lang ako para makapagtapos lang po pero sobra-sobra pa po yung binigay ni Lord," Abzonie said.

He added that his challenges in life motivated him to work hard. Being the oldest in his class, Abzonie said he was inspired to prove himself.

"For seven years its been my dream na makapag-aral ulit tapos siyempre po inspired po ako na galingan po siguro kasi matanda na ako," Abzonie said.

Abzonie joined over 83,000 takers who passed the September 2019 LET. His success is truly an inspiration, especially to those who are struggling to achieve their dreams.
