Typhoon Tisoy PAGASA weather update November 30

MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon Kammuri (international name) slightly slows down as it maintains its strength, state weather bureau PAGASA announced in its 11:00 am bulletin on Saturday, November 30, 2019.

At 10:00 am today, the eye of Typhoon 'Kammuri' was estimated based on all available data at 1,220 km East of Southern Luzon or still outside the Philippe Area of Responsibility (PAR).

UPDATE: Typhoon Tisoy now in PAR

'Kammuri' mas maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 185 km/h. It is moving West Southwest at 15 km/h.

  • Monday morning (December 2, 2019) - 310 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (Typhoon)
  • Tuesday morning (December 3, 2019) - In the vicinity of Lupi, Camarines Sur (Typhoon)
  • Wednesday morning (December 4, 2019 - 225 km West of Subic, Zambales (Severe Tropical Storm)
  • Thursday morning (December 5, 2019 ) - 480 km West of Iba, Zambales (Severe Tropical Storm)

The weather system is forecast to enter the PAR today (November 30) and will be named "Tisoy" as the 20th Philippine tropical cyclone for 2019.

Once it enters the PAR, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal #1 may be raised over Northern and Eastern Samar. Cancellation of maritime travel may be experienced over these areas.

Further intensification of 'Kammuri' is likely before it makes landfall. Intensification into a SUPER TYPHOON is less likely at this time but not ruled out.

Typhoon 'Kammuri' may bring moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms starting Monday (December 2) over Bicol Region and Samar provinces. Most of the areas in Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Metro Manila will experience strong winds and heavy rains on December 3 and 4.

The country, with prime locations in Central Luzon, Metro Manila and Southern Luzon, is currently hosting the 30th Southeast Asian Games. Opening and closing ceremonies are set on November 30 and December 11, respectively.
