Gerald Magalona Mier is still in disbelief that he has now achieved his dream of becoming an electrical engineer. Adding to his happiness is landing in the top 2 spot with a score of 92.05% exam rating.

Mier shared that when the results came out, his family was in tears with the good news.

"Ang alam ko lang makakapasa ako pero 'yung mag-top, hindi ko ini-expect kasi talagang mahirap ang exam," he said.

The 21-year-old engineer shared that his inspiration to succeed was his parents. Mier said he grew up seeing his father work as an electrician for years.

Mier said his journey to success wasn't an easy one. With his mother working as a "manikurista," finances were tight. While they may have limited resources, Mier made sure he didn't fall short in his studies.

Mier had been a consistent dean's lister in college and finished cum laude at Bicol University - Legazpi. He is also a scholar of Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

The youngest among six siblings, there were times he barely had money to cover his daily expenses while reviewing. However, the hardworking graduate persevered.

Now, Mier finally made his dream come true. He said he is looking forward to share his success with his family and repay his parents' sacrifices and hardwork.

Mier's sister, Arlene is also very proud of their sibling. She shared the good news on her Facebook and said, "Congratulations Bunso!"

Mier is one of the 3,285 out of 4,891 September 2019 Electrical Engineer licensure exam passers, as announced by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC).

Congratulations Engr. Gerald!
