'Bagyong Falcon', new LPA PAGASA weather update July 18, 2019

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm 'Falcon' has maintained its strength as it moves northward and it may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this evening, state weather bureau PAGASA annnounced in its 5:00 am bulletin on Wednesday, July 18.

At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm "Falcon" was estimated based on all available data at 230 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes.

'Bagyong Falcon' has maximum sustained winds of up to 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h. It is moving North at 20 km/h.

Tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) No. 2 still up over Batanes while Signal No. 1 hoised over Babuyan group of Islands.

Meanwhile, at 4:00 am today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 265 km West of Sinait, Ilocos Sur. This LPA may develop into a Tropical Depression within 48 hours and will be named 'Goring'.

Today, moderate to at times heavy rains will be experienced over Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and northern Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands. Meanwhile, light to moderate to at times heavy rains will be experienced over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Residents in the aforementioned areas, especially those living in areas identified to be at risk of flooding and landslides, are advised to take precautionary measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates, especially the Thunderstorm Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings to be issued by PAGASA Regional Services Divisions.

Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of areas under TCWS, the seaboards of Luzon, and the western and eastern seaboards of Visayas.
