'Bagyong Egay' PAGASA weather update July 1, 2019

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Depression (TD) 'Egay', the country's 5th tropical cyclone for 2019, has slightly weakened as it continues to move northwestward, state weather bureau PAGASA announced in its 5:00 am bulletin on Monday, July 1.

At 4:00 am today, the center of 'Bagyong Egay' was estimated based on all available data at 195 km East Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or 205 km East of Calayan, Cagayan.

TD Egay has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph. It is moving Northwest at 40 kph.

Tropical cyclone wind signal TCWS #1 (30-60 km/h Expected in 36 hours) was raised over Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of areas under TCWS #1 due to moderate to rough seas associated with the tropical depression.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon will bring light to moderate with at times heavy monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Antique, Aklan, and western Iloilo, while cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms is expected over the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas.

Residents in the aforementioned areas, especially those living in areas identified to be at high risk of flooding and landslides, are advised to take precautionary measure, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates, especially the Thunderstorm Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings to be issued by PAGASA Regional Services Divisions.
