These days, older people often criticize teenagers for only thinking of themselves. Some call out teens for their lack of respect for elders, or for worrying only about their looks rather than looking out for others. But, a group of teenagers proved that they too have a heart of gold, especially to those in need.

On Facebook, Thirdy Echenique Dela Torre III shared a heartwarming gesture made by him and his friends. He shared that they were just out to buy fried chicken when they saw a young boy who was hungry. What pained them the most is when the hungry boy took a piece of chicken and revealed that he only has P4.00 baon.

And the boy wasn’t a beggar at all, he was striving student trying to find a means to feed his hunger. He didn’t even have slippers while going to school.

The teen said it was heartbreaking to see the little boy who had nothing. Thirdy and his friends decided to return the boy’s money and even bought more fried chicken for him to eat. They also bought the boy some white t-shirt and slippers that he can wear to school. The boy was even given a ball for him to play with.

Thirdy shared his reflection on how some people would easily complain of having old things when there are others who literally have nothing.

He said, “Nakakainis lang isipin na yung iba diyan nagrereklamo kesyo luma na daw yung ganito niya luma na daw yung ganyan juskoooo nagiinarte kapa buti nga ikaw may ganyan ka eh napakablessed mo na kaya kung alam mo lang.”

Thirdy said he posted his good deeds not because he wanted to brag but to inspire others to help, especially to children.

The post earned the praise of many netizens calling the group “good boys!” Many also said that these teens should serve as an example to their fellow teenagers.

Thirdy’s post has gone viral with over 15,000 reactions and 6,000 shares as of press time.
