Habagat, LPA bring heavy rains to Luzon, Visayas on June 29

MANILA, Philippines – The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat continue to affect Luzon and portion of Visayas on Saturday, June 29.

In a weather advisory on Saturday, weather central PAGASA said that monsoon rains will be experienced over Ilocos Region, Cagayan, Batanes, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, MIMAROPA, Antique and Aklan.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains may prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and of Visayas.

"Residents in these areas, especially those living in areas identified to be at high risk of flooding and landslides , are advised to continue monitoring for updates, take precautionary measures and coordinate with their local government and disaster risk reduction and management offices," PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, at 10:00 am today , the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 840 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (14.0 ºN,132.0 ºE).

The LPA may develop into a Tropical Depression (TD) within 48 hours.

The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to continue monitoring for updates to be incorporated in the next public weather forecast.
