As much as 60,000 caregivers are expected to be hired by several Japanese companies in the next 5 years to cater to their growing elderly population.

POEA administrator Bernard Olalia said, "Malaki at mataas iyong kanilang aging population so ine-expect nila in the coming years, magkakaroon ng malaking labor shortage."

The Japanese government is also expected to open job orders for Specified Skill Worker Visa 1 and 2 by next month.

Aside from the fact that having caregiving experience is not a requirement, there will be no payment for placement fee and employment fee.

Olalia said, "Both the government and the employment track, walang placement fee, walang employment fee."

Because of the high demand of caregivers, Japanese companies pay as much ¥200,000 or P95,776 as monthly salary.

Several Japanese companies have been in the country to conduct in-training and hiring.

One of them is the Cooperative Union Business Supply Aichi (CUBSA). They are a Japanese union which hires and employs Filipinos to work in various industries in Japan. They had recently been in the Philippines to conduct a free seminar caregiving training for Filipinos. The Union is looking at hiring 1,000 Filipino caregivers for now.

Olalia reminded to reach out to POEA and legitimate recruitment agencies to apply. For the listing of available Japan caregiver vacancies, check the official POEA website.
