MANILA, Philippines – The non-teaching staff of Department of Education (DepEd) is set to receive their performance bonus as confirmed by their union leader on Monday, January 21.

During a press conference, Atty. Domingo Alidon, president of the DepEd National Employees' Union announced that non-teaching personnel are now eligible to receive the performance bonus. Since last year, the non-teaching staff have been clamoring to be included in the bonus that have been exclusively granted to teachers.

The union leader shared that DepEd finally agreed to their clamor after negotiations. The expected bonus amount to as much as P15,000 to P20,000.

Atty. Alidon clarified that there will still be guidelines to be followed. For now, they are still in talks with DepEd on the release of the said bonus to non-teaching staff.

Atty. Alidon also announced that the “service fee” charged to employees, which is 0.5 percent of their salary will also be removed.

Last December, DepEd gave assurances that a teachers and personnel will receive their expected bonuses on time.

"We will make sure that everyone will receive the anniversary bonus, this is PHP3,000. That's all employees. Also, the year-end bonus," DepEd Undersecretary Finance-Budget and Performance Monitoring Annalyn Sevilla said in a press briefing.
