PO2 Ryan Ocampo of Arayat MPS Pampanga PPO was on duty when he saw a young mother carrying her son by the roadside. The kid had a white patch on his forehead that was obviously a patch for lowering temperature; it was obvious that the kid was sick.

But the mother was crying hard by the road.

The concerned policeman asked the woman why she was crying, offering help. When he heard that the woman had gone to the doctor to get her child checked up but no longer had any money to buy his medicines, the kind policeman offered to help buy the medicines out of his own money.

PO2 Ocampo let the two ride in the vehicle and brought them to a pharmacy where he bought all the medicines in the child’s prescription.

Afterwards, the policeman made sure the two are safe by taking them directly to their home.

But his kind deed did not end with the medicines. After taking the mother and her son to their home, he also gave them some money to buy milk for the child and other needs.

For his kind deed, the policeman earned praise from netizens who were impressed that he would use his own money to buy the kid’s medicines. But there were those who slammed the policeman for posing for photos while helping the woman. Many think this was scripted to make the agency look better, commenting that this was just a photo-op.

Others also said that it was not good to flaunt that you helped others in need by sharing photos on social media.

However, many sided with the policeman and told the others to back off, saying that sharing the kind deed is not bragging but actually a form of encouragement so that others will also help those in need.
