12-year-old boy takes care and brings ailing mother to school with him everyday

At 12 years old, John Mark Nasih already has the responsibility to care for his ailing mother, Alma. The loving mother got sick when she was 17 years old with cerebral palsy and their life has never been the same again.

Since then, John Mark has been his mother's guiding light as he bathe, fed and took care of her. Despite the huge responsibility given to him, John Mark knows he has dreams to fulfill so he still goes to school everyday. Since no one would take care of Alma, the dutiful son would bring along her mother to school with him.

Every morning, John Mark would help her mother to her wheelchair as they go the 30-minute walk going to school. Once in school, John Mark would leave Alma outside the school canteen. There, Alma would wait for 6 hours until a teacher who later on became her friend would visit and give her food.

John Mark’s father died of dengue back in 2008. Since then, the mother and son had been going through great lengths to survive. They would sell collectibles to buy food. If worse comes to worst, they would ask for alms and visit orphanages for help.

John Mark shares that he hopes to become a doctor someday and help cure his mother. Alma couldn't be any more proud of his son.

Despite all the hardships they go through, the loving mother never fails to encourage her son to persevere.

Blessings pour in

John Mark and Alma’s story has touched the hearts of many and blessings started to pour in. Hit show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS) surprised the mother and son with a scholarship and school supplies from Young Achievers’ School of Caloocan. And to help them with their daily walk, John Mark received a bicycle that Alma can sit comfortably in.

John Mark and Alma would be grateful for any amount of assistance you may give. Below are their bank details:
