#WalangPasok: Class suspensions on July 23 for SONA 2018

MANILA, Philippines – Quezon City local government announced on July 19 that classes will be suspended when President Rodrigo Duterte delivers his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 23 at the Batasang Pambansa Complex.

The suspension covers all levels in both private and public schools in the city, QC Mayor Herbert M. Bautista has ordered.

While SONA was not declared holiday throughout the country, areas to be affected by heavy traffic and mass demonstrations are given a break. In last year's address, at least 10 schools declared suspension of classes and office work.

SONA is a constitutional obligation and yearly tradition, wherein the chief executive reports on the status of the country, unveils the government’s agenda for the coming year, and proposes to Congress certain legislative measures.

Seventy-seven (77) SONAs have been delivered so far.
