'Bagyong Henry' PAGASA weather update July 16, 2018

MANILA, Philippines –  'Bagyong Henry' has maintained its strength as it moves towards extreme Northern Luzon, state weather bureau PAGASA announced in its 11:00 am update on Monday, July 16, 2018.

At 10:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression 'Henry' was estimated based on all available data at 415 km East of Calayan, Cagayan (18.9°N, 125.4°E).

'Henry' has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph. It is moving West at 25 kph.

  • 24 Hour(Tomorrow morning): 430 km West of Calayan, Cagayan (OUTSIDE PAR)(19.5°N, 117.4°E)
  • 48 Hour(Wednesday morning):1,320 km West of Calayan, Cagayan (OUTSIDE PAR)(19.8°N, 108.9°E)

Tropical cyclone warning signal no. 1 (30-60kph expected in 36 hrs) was raised in Batanes, northern portion of Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands, northern portion of Apayao, and northern portion of Ilocos Norte.

'Bagyong Henry' is expected to be in the vicinity of the Babuyan Group of Islands tonight.

Occasional rains with gusty winds are expected over the areas under Signal No. 1.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, Palawan and Western Visayas, and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon.

Residents of these areas, especially those living in low-lying and mountainous areas, are advised to continue monitoring for updates, coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of areas under Signal No. 1 and the western seaboard of Luzon due to moderate to rough seas associated with the approaching Tropical Depression and the Southwest Monsoon.
