#WalangPasok: June 11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 2018 special holiday declared in selected areas

MANILA, Philippines – (Updated June 10) Malacañang Palace has declared June 11, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 2018 as special non-working holiday in selected areas for the celebration of important events - founding anniversary and local festival.

Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea and Acting Executive Sec. Michael P. Ong, through the authority of President Rodrigo Duterte signed proclamations Nos. 494, 496, 500-508 declaring special non-working day in Alegria, Surigao del Norte; Carmen, Davao del Norte; Angeles City, Pampanga; Sagay City, Negros Occidental; Rizal province; General Santos City; Ifugao; Rosario, Agusan del Sur; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Laguna and Lipa City, Batangas.

NOTE: Duterte signed Proclamation No. 269, which declared June 12, 2018 (Tuesday) a regular national holiday for Independence Day. Proclamation No. 514 for the observance of Eid’l Fitr, on June 15, 2018 (Friday), was signed by the president on Wednesday, June 6.

Proclamation No. 507: Special non-working holiday in the province of Laguna on Tuesday, June 19 for the celebration of 157th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, national hero of the Philippines.

Proclamation No. 508: Special non-working day in Lipa City, Batangas on Wednesday, June 20 for its 71st Founding Anniversary.

Malacañang Palace said that it is proper that the people on the said areas be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

As defined in the Administrative Code of 1987, Book III, Chapter 2, Section 4, Proclamations are "acts of the President fixing a date or declaring a status or condition of public moment or interest, upon the existence of which the operation of a specific law or regulation is made to depend, shall be promulgated in proclamations which shall have the force of an executive order."
