MANILA, Philippines - A graduate posed next to her late mother’s casket during the funeral to share the significant moment with her.

Graduation is truly one of the memorable celebrations of a family. Most of the time, the family gathers to share a simple meal or an extravagant party to celebrate the moment. But for one unfortunate graduate, her mother’s funeral awaited her at home.

A Facebook post by Yssa Llaban Guy-ab is gaining attention for the bittersweet moment when she posed next to her late mother’s casket. Guy-ab smiled and offered her achievement to her mother. She said, “Graduate na ako, ma.”

Although the cause of Guy-ab’s mother’s death was not revealed, she shared that she was the “best mom.”

The grieving daughter said, “Thank you for giving me the chance to have the greatest mother I could imagine.”

Guy-ab added, “As I get older, I see why you taught me so many of the things you did. It makes you not being here just a little bit easier. Losing you has given me purpose. I will continue to live every day for you.”

In a heartbreaking post, she shared that her mother will be her guiding light as she goes through life. “I will be the best version of me. With every choice, every decision, every step I take for the rest of my life, I will honor you. I will do my best every second of every day to make you the proudest mom in heaven. Life without you is hard, and it probably always will be, but I will live this life for you ma.”


Outpouring of love

Guy-ab’s post has been flooded by messages of strength and positivity from her family and friends. Most of them were shocked to hear the news of the sudden passing of her mother. All of them expressed their condolences and congratulations to the graduate.

The young lady had earlier posted about how her family and friends had “comforted me when I was at my lowest and and celebrated with me when I was looking up.” She also sent a loving message to he father, “To my Papa, I’ll always be your baby. No matter where life takes me, I will always take a part of you with me. I will make you proud and I’ll always be your little girl.”

Ethel Guy-ab graduated at Liceo de Cagayan University. The viral post has been shared over 15,000 times already.
