According to Cebu Daily News, Margallo, 23, was captured in a resort on Malapascua island on Tuesday, January 24, for allegedly torturing, sexually abusing and trafficking about a dozen female street children she and her live-in partner and supposed cohort Peter Gerard Scully apparently featured in gruesome s*x videos they produced. A 12-year-old child was reportedly tortured to death by the partners in crime.

Scully, an Australian who fled to Manila in 2011 to start a lucrative business by videotaping s*xual acts of minor, was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Malaybalay, Bukidnon in February 2015. He is currently detained in Cagayan de Oro City.

Scully reportedly earned US $10,000 for every livestream video transaction.

With the help of Australian police, the NBI was able to track down Margallo, who will face charges for violating Republic Act 9610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act; Republic Act 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009; and Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.

If proven guilty, Margallo and Scully will face life imprisonment and a fine of P2 million to P5 million.

But for many netizens, the penalty they are facing isn’t enough. Many pointed out that Margallo deserves to be punished the same way she tortured and abused the victims.

“There is no way this woman needs to be kept in jail I believe she needs to be executed,” a ceraun Kaye Corong commented.

Rannie Balajida wrote: “They should die !! They took a life of a young child and tortured those little girls!! They should not be in prison but they should be executed in public !!!!!! To slowly die , they should also be tortured a million times for them to feel what those poor little girls felt while being abused !!!!!!! They took a life and in return they should also die !! They cannot be forgiven!”

“And some people are against the death penalty! This is one reason why it's needed,” Ronnie Manalastas said.

President Rodrigo Duterte has been vocal on his intention to reimpose death penalty to win justice for the victims of heinous crimes.

House Bill Number 1, which seeks to reinstate capital punishment for all heinous crimes, was approved by justice panel’s subcommittee on judicial reforms of the House of Representatives on November 29, 2016.
