MANILA, Philippines - The 16th edition of Miss Earth happens on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. The full list of winners and full video of the coronation night are available on this page.
Angelia Ong, who made a historic back-to-back win for the Philippines passed on her crown to the new environmental ambassador, Miss Ecuador Katherine Elizabeth Espín, who will be expected to travel the world and carry out the mission to encourage the global community to make a change to save and protect the environment.
The final four contestants were asked of the most pressing issue: "The Paris agreement on climate change is a historic international deal to that seeks to limit global warming to below 1.5-degree Centigrade. If you are selected as Miss Earth 2016, what will be your program to protect Mother Earth from climate change?"
Meanwhile, Philippine bet Imelda Schweighart bowed out early in the race, failing to land a place in the Top 16. Despite her early exit on the competition, Philippines still remains as the country with the most number of wins in the Manila-based pageant, having won it in 2008, 2014 and 2015.
The highly anticipated environmental event of the year with a theme "Empowered To Make A Change" featured 83 contestants from across the globe.
