Sharon, Mocha Girls, other celebrities reportedly held concerts inside NBP under De Lima’s term

MANILA, Philippines - An inmate of the New Bilibid Prison claimed that celebrities such as Sharon Cuneta, the Mocha Girls, Rufa Mae Quinto, Ethel Booba and Freddie Aguilar held concerts inside the New Bilibid Prison’s Maximum Security Compound when Senator Leila De Lima was the secretary of the Department of Justice.

Star-studded concert inside NBP?
All-girl sexy dance group Mocha Girls and folk singer Freddie Aguilar are known supporters of the Duterte administration. Singer-actress Cuneta, on the other hand, is the wife of Liberal Party’s Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan. Sexy star Rufa Mae Quinto previously endorsed Mar Roxas, Liberal Party’s standard bearer, in the 2016 elections.

Back in January 2015, Mocha Uson told GMA News that they were invited to perform in a concert inside NBP’s maximum security compound. However, Uson denied that they did anything beyond the performance.

"Sexy po ang imahe namin, bilang performers, pero hanggang sa performance lang 'yun, pero offstage, very private kami, hindi po kami pumapatol sa mga indecent proposals,” Uson said.

NBP turns into “Little Las Vegas”

Rodolfo Magleo, a former cop convicted of kidnapping, said during the Bilibid drugs probe on Tuesday, September 20, that the compound that housed several high-profile convicts, turned into a “Little Las Vegas” under the previous administration.

According to Magleo, criminal activities such as gambling, prostitution and illegal drug use proliferated inside the prison during the previous administration. Magleo, in his testimony, said that the illegal drug trade inside the compound operated into “billions” of pesos.

“Bago naging Secretary si, hindi ganoon katalamak,” Magleo told Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II.

Magleo alleged that De Lima met with inmate leaders in 2011 to ensure “peace and order” inside the prison. De Lima’s former driver and alleged lover Ronnie Dayan apparently collected the contact numbers of the leaders for faster communication.

But according to Magleo, they were eventually displaced as leaders because they reportedly failed to give P50,000 weekly as “quota” to Dayan.

1st UPDATE: Senator Kiko Pangilinan has released statement on alleged concert of his wife at the New Bilibid prison

"On July 10, 2012, Sharon went to the New Bilibid Prison for the taping of her talk show, "Kasama mo Kapatid," which had an episode featuring the life of inmates. She sang four songs for the closing portion, which is the customary format of the show. She sang "Maging Sino Ka Man," "Tubig at Langis," "Kahit Konting Pagtingin," and "Kahit Maputi Na ang Buhok Ko" but only to support RockEd's outreach program for prisoners."
