LOOK: Infographic reveals Filipinos’ choice for president based on location, class

MANILA, Philippines - An infographic released by TV network ABS-CBN has revealed the preferences for president of Filipinos based on geographical location and income class in the upcoming national elections.

Respondents were asked: “If the coming 2016 election were held today, whom would you vote for as “PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES?” Pulse Asia Poll Infographic by ABS-CBN
The Pulse Asia Inc. survey commissioned by ABS-CBN was held from February 16 to 27 and involved some 5,200 qualified voters. This number is almost triple the usual sample size of Pulse Asia which is 1,800 respondents.

Unlike other surveys, the Pulse-ABS-CBN survey utilized “secret voting” wherein respondents provided their answers in sealed ballots. These were opened only during tabulation.

Results showed that Sen. Grace Poe topped Luzon (32%) and NCR (30%), while former DILG secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas claimed Visayas (33%). Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte was the top choice in Mindanao (47%).

Nationwide, Poe was the frontrunner with 26% of the votes followed by Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay at 24%. The two are considered statistically tied in the top spot. Duterte came in third with 22%, while Roxas was at the fourth spot with 19%. Sen. Miriam Santiago lagged behind with 3% of the voter preference.

In terms of voter preference based on income class, Duterte topped the ABC class with 27%, while Poe was the top choice among D (26%) and E (27%) class.

Meanwhile, Senators Francis “Chiz” Escudero and Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. shared the top spot in the latest vice presidential suvey of Pulse Asia with 26% of the votes. Camarines Sur Congresswoman Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo garnered 18%, while Senator Alan Peter Cayetano received 13%. On the other hand, Senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan scored 6%, while Senator Antonio Trillanes IV received 5%.
