CSC announces Civil Service Exam schedule in 2016

MANILA, Philippines - The Civil Service Commission (CSC) on Friday officially announced the schedule for national civil service written examinations for 2016.

Civil Service Exams in 2016 schedule

The CSC has provided the calendar for the five types of eligibility examinations, with the following schedule:
  • Fire Officer Examination (FOE) on March 13, 2016
  • Penology Officer Examination (POE) on March 13, 2016
  • Career Service Examination, Paper-and-Pencil Test (CSE-PPT) for the Professional level on April 17 and October 23, 2016
  • Career Service Examination, Paper-and-Pencil Test (CSE-PPT) for the Subprofessional level on April 17 and October 23, 2016and
  • CSE for Foreign Service Officer (CSE-FSO) on August 7, 2016

2016 Career Service Examination, Paper-and-Pencil Test (CSE-PPT)

The CSE-PPT for Professional and SubProfessional levels are open to Filipino citizens, regardless of educational attainment, who are at least 18 years old at the time of filing of application, and have not taken the same level of examination in less than three months. For the CSE-PPT scheduled on April 17, 2016, applicants must not take the same level of the examination from January 17, 2016, to April 16, 2016.

The application period for the April 17, 2016, CSE-PPT started on November 9, 2015, and ends on February 25 the next year. Application must be filed personally at the CSC Regional Office (CSCRO) or at any CSC Field Office where the applicant intends to take the test. For application requirements and other information regarding the CSE-PPT, applicants should refer to CSC Examination Announcement No. 07, s. 2015 now posted in the CSC website Examination fee for CSE-PPT is PhP500.

The career service exams would result in the conferment of either Professional or SubProfessional eligibility appropriate for appointment to corresponding permanent positions in the government.

2016 Fire Officer Examination (FOE) and Penology Officer Examination (POE)

The simultaneous conduct on March 13, 2016, of FOE and POE is in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, respectively. For application details and other information on FOE and POE, interested applicants are advised to check the CSC website for respective examination announcements.

Career Service Examination for Foreign Service Officer (CSE-FSO)

Meanwhile, the CSC will administer the CSE-FSO on August 7, 2016, in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The CSE-FSO is both an eligibility exam for government service and a qualifying test for the five-part Foreign Service Officer Examination (FSOE) of the DFA. The DFA issues the announcement for FSOE, for which the CSE-FSO forms the first part. Applications for FSOE are filed at Regional Consular Offices of the DFA, or at Philippine embassies or consulates, or at the DFA-Board of Foreign Service Examinations, Pasay City.
