Manila, Philippines - At least 8 were injured trapping several passengers as MRT train derailed at Taft Avenue Station, Pasay on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, reports said.

GMA News has reported that some of the injured were pedestrians at the corner of EDSA and Taft Avenue who were hit by debris, concrete and glass.

The incident also caused stampede in the crowded train station as the train operations have been halted for the rest of the MRT line.

“We are currently undergoing necessary intervention for the technical problem encountered. We apologize for the inconvenience,” the Department of Transportation and Communications-Metro Rail Transit, @dotcmrt_3 said via Twitter.

The Metro Manila Development Authority (@MMDA on Twitter) advised that their rescue officers and enforcers were already on location. "Expect heavy traffic," they said.
