Calvento posted on his Facebook page the information of death threat as 'hired gunmen' allegedly will assassinate Navarro. The journalist said he already talked with Justice Secretary Leila Delima and they have agreed to provide security for him.

However, Vhong's legal counsel Atty. Mario 'Ayo' Bautista and the ABS-CBN security said that they can handle the situation.

The security threat happened following the arrest of some suspects in the illegal detention case filed by Navarro. On April 26, fugitive businessman Cedric Lee and Zimmer Raz, 2 of the 7 accused in the mauling incident last January 22 were arrested in Oras, Eastern Samar.

Other suspects in the illegal detention case - Jed Fernandez, Ferdinand Guerrero and Deniece Cornejo were also ordered for arrest. Meanwhile, Bernice Lee and Jose Paolo Calma faced the grave coercion case.

"I also expressed my view that all these talk and noise that the other accused are going to turn themselves in is all air. I believe that they are trying to delay their arrests.", Calvento said.

"It could be a ploy to lull the NBI into complacency to ease up the massive manhunt launched on them. Wait for the pleadings they have filed before the Court of Appeals to come out. It's all very clear. Legal and tactically good.", Calvento added.

Calvento said that Sec. Delima assured that teams have been dispatched to look for these people and arrest them including their protectors. They could be charged with obstruction of justice.

On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, Cedric and Zimmer will see Vhong Navarro face to face at the sala of Judge Paz Cortez for their preliminary hearing.
