MANILA, Philippines – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, denounced a false social media post claiming that Secretary Jonvic Remulla ordered the suspension of work and classes on August 27, 2025 in several parts of the country.
In a statement, the DILG clarified that no such announcement came from the department, stressing that the authority to suspend government work and classes lies with Malacañang, local government units (LGUs), the Department of Education, and other relevant agencies.
“This is fake news. We clarify that no such announcement has been made by the DILG Secretary. Official advisories are released only through verified government websites and social media pages,” the agency said.
The DILG also warned the public about a certain Facebook page, which it said has repeatedly shared misleading information. The department urged Filipinos to remain vigilant, verify information, and rely only on official government channels for updates.
Legal action is being considered against the perpetrators, the DILG added, noting that spreading false advisories not only causes confusion but also endangers public safety and erodes trust in government institutions.
“We call on everyone to stop the spread of unverified information and to help build a safer and more informed Bagong Pilipinas,” the agency said.
