#WalangPasok: February 28, March 2, 7, 8, 17, 21, 22, 24 and 27, 2017 special holiday in selected areas

MANILA, Philippines - (Updated as of March 19) Malacañang Palace has declared February 28, March 2,7,8,17, 21, 22 and 24, 2017 as special non-working holiday in selected areas for the celebration of important events.

Acting Executive Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra through the authority of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed proclamations No. 152-160, declaring special non-working day in Escalante City in Negros Occidental, La Union, Samal City, Basilan, Tayug in Pangasinan, Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro, Tangub City, Compostela Valley and Tabaco City in Albay.

Proclamation No. 152: Escalante City, Negros Occidental will celebrate Charter Day on Tuesday, February 28.

Republic Act No. 9191: March 1 of every year is hereby declared a special non-working holiday in the City of Muntinlupa to be known as “Muntinlupa City Charter Day” in order to commemorate the Charter Anniversary of the said city.

Republic Act No. 7551: March 16 of every year as "Araw ng Davao," a special non-working public holiday in Davao City

Republic Act No. 7679: An act declaring March 27 (Monday this 2017) of every year a special non-working public holiday in San Juan City to commemorate the anniversary and formation as an independent municipality by virtue of Philippine Commission Act No. 1625.

ADDITIONAL HOLIDAY DECLARATION (Municipal level)

Resolution No. 2017-324 and 330 declaring March 3 and 7, 2017 as official non-working holidays in the Municipality of Sto. Tomas, Batangas for the Mahaguyog Festival and for the Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas.

Malacañang Palace said that it is proper that the people on the said areas be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

As defined in the Administrative Code of 1987, Book III, Chapter 2, Section 4, Proclamations are "acts of the President fixing a date or declaring a status or condition of public moment or interest, upon the existence of which the operation of a specific law or regulation is made to depend, shall be promulgated in proclamations which shall have the force of an executive order."
