WALANG PASOK: Class suspensions on Wednesday, September 30, 2026

MANILA, Philippines — Classes in some areas have been suspended or shifted to alternative learning modalities on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, due to the continuation of the transport strike.

The class suspensions come amid a nationwide transport strike being conducted by various transport groups, but the suspension of classes depends on the directives issued by local government units and other authorized officials.

This list will be updated as more official announcements are issued by local and national authorities, as well as schools.

Bicol Region

• Albay – No face-to-face classes at all levels in public and private schools. Alternative learning modalities will be implemented.

• Adamson University – Sept. 30
• Bicol University – Sept. 29 to 30
• Carlos Hilado Memorial State University – Sept. 29 to 30
• Centro Escolar University (CEU) - Manila and Makati – Sept. 30
• Far Eastern University – Manila and Makati City campus - Sept. 28 to 30
• San Sebastian College - Recoletos (Integrated Basic Education Department and College Department) – Sept. 28 to 30
• Technological Institute of the Philippines – Sept. 29 to 30
• University of the East-Manila and Caloocan – Sept. 29 to 30

Transport Strike

Transport group Manibela is holding a transport strike from September 28 to 30, while PISTON is staging its strike from September 29 to 30.

The groups are protesting what they describe as the government's inaction amid rising fuel prices.

Manibela Chairman Mar Valbuena said the continued increase in diesel prices is reducing the income of drivers and operators as higher fuel costs raise their daily expenses.

PISTON National President Mody Floranda said around 70,000 to 100,000 jeepney drivers and operators are expected to participate in the nationwide strike.

He said demonstrations are expected in Bulacan, Pampanga, Baguio, Rizal, Naga, Sorsogon, Cebu, Panay, Iloilo, Bacolod City, Davao, and General Santos City.
