MANILA, Philippines – A 17-year-old male college student from Taguig City was found lifeless inside the University of Makati (UMak) campus on Friday, according to a police spot report.

Taguig City police said one of the university’s security guards discovered the student’s body at around 8:30 a.m.
Based on the initial investigation, the guard saw the student “lying motionless” and “apparently lifeless” beside the university’s generator set.
The security guard immediately informed his superiors before reporting the incident to the Taguig City police, authorities said.
Medical personnel subsequently arrived at the area to examine the student and found that he had no palpable pulse and exhibited “no signs of life.”
Authorities have yet to determine the student’s possible cause of death as investigators continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police are also securing CCTV footage from the area that may be relevant to the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, UMak confirmed that a student was found lifeless inside its campus and said it had reached out to the student’s family and coordinated with authorities for the proper investigation.
The university did not disclose the identity of the student and urged members of its community to refrain from spreading speculative details.
“We kindly ask the community to respect the family’s privacy by refraining from spreading speculative details and by upholding compassion across all platforms,” UMak said.
UMak said its guidance counselors, trained faculty members, and staff are available to provide support and psychological first aid to members of the university community who may need assistance.
The university also expressed its condolences to the student’s family and loved ones during the difficult time.
“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the student’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” UMak said.
