The 24-year-old Food Science and Technology graduate of the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao recently passed the August 2026 Food Technologists Licensure Examination, earning the title of Professional Food Technologist (PFT).

Known for his engaging “Let Me Explain Something” trivia contents, Cuevas admitted that becoming a licensed food technologist was not an easy journey, in an exclusive interview with The Summit Express.

In 2025, he was originally supposed to take the licensure examination but decided to postpone it after struggling with self-doubt and feeling uncertain about his direction after college. Instead, that pause opened unexpected opportunities in digital content creation.

Since starting his content creator journey in February 2021, Cuevas has built a career focused on making science and factual information more accessible to Filipino audiences.

His work eventually brought brand collaborations, organizational partnerships, awards, and a move to Manila.

Among his achievements are being named TikTok Philippines’ Top Education Creator of 2022, receiving the Gandingan Awards’ Most Development-Oriented Online Short-Form Series in 2025, and earning recognition as STARDOM Awards’ Most Excellent Science Research Journalist and Gandingan ng Edukasyon awardee in 2026.

But preparing for the board exam while maintaining his growing career proved challenging.

Cuevas revealed that although his review program lasted six months, his busy schedule left him with only about 20 days to seriously prepare, forcing him to go through months of review materials in less than three weeks.

Despite the pressure, he pushed through with the support of his family, friends, mentors, and his Victory BGC community.

When the results were finally released, Cuevas was with his friends and could hardly contain his emotions. He jumped for joy and cried upon learning that he had passed.

“Sobrang kinakabahan talaga ako nung naghihintay sa result. Pero all in all, sobrang saya ko na I even jumped for joy and cried out—I was with my friends when I found it out,” he said.

For now, Cuevas plans to continue his career as an educational content creator, while eventually considering a path in the academe where he can combine his professional background with his passion for teaching.

“Maybe in the future, I’ll pursue my degree program most especially in the academe. But for now, I’ll continue my content creation career, and ang ibig lang din sabihin nito na mas mapapalawig ko pa yung field ko ng pagtuturo ngayong I am a licensed professional now, and mas magkakaroon ng credibility and substance yung pagtuturo ko most especially sa field ng food science,” he explained.

His advice to aspiring board takers is simple: embrace feeling lost, trust the process, and remember that learning does not stop even after earning a license.

“Embrace the feeling of being lost because it's part of the process of finding the right formula for your life. Take your time, trust your hard work, at tandaan na learning never stops even after you get that license.”

He also gives advice for aspiring content creators who want to follow in your footsteps:

“Always prioritize factual research and make learning fun and accessible for your audience. Huwag matakot mag-eksperimento sa content ninyo, and always remember your core purpose—to educate, inspire curiosity, and add value to people's feeds.”

Congratulations, Raymor!
