MANILA, Philippines – Sometimes, fate has a way of creating the most unexpected moments—just when people least expect them.

For 20-year-old Jinky Partolan of Taguig City, a seemingly ordinary bus ride turned into an emotional reunion when she unexpectedly came face-to-face with her father, whom she had not seen for two decades.

Partolan shared the emotional encounter in a viral Facebook video, where she could be seen fighting back tears as she talked to her father inside a passenger bus. After years of wondering when they would finally meet again, she never imagined that their reunion would happen in such an unexpected place.

According to Partolan, she was only six months old when she was last seen and was held by her father, Jandy Lumayag from Cavite. Her parents eventually separated, and she grew up without her father by her side.

“6 months old pa lang ako nang huli akong mahawakan ni Papa,” she shared.

Despite the long separation, their communication was eventually reestablished last year through Messenger chats and video calls. Partolan admitted that she cried during their first conversation because it was the first time she had spoken with her father.

They had even planned for him to visit her home, but circumstances prevented their planned reunion.

Fate, however, appeared to have a different plan.

Instead of meeting at home, the father and daughter unexpectedly crossed paths inside a bus—after 20 years apart.

In an exclusive interview with The Summit Express, Partolan chose not to disclose the reason behind her parents’ separation. She said, however, that her mother was happy to learn that she had finally reunited with her father.

Partolan now hopes that their unexpected meeting will be the beginning of more reunions and opportunities to know each other better.

“Ang hiling ko po para sa aming dalawa ni Papa is ang magkita pa po kami ulit, magkaroon ng bonding po, magkaroon ng maraming oras para mas makilala pa po namin ang bawat isa,” she said.

She also left a heartfelt message for her father: “Papa, mahal na mahal po kita. Mag-iingat ka palagi kung saan ka man pupunta. Alagaan mo po ang sarili mo.”

After their emotional encounter, Partolan was able to obtain her father’s contact details, giving her hope that their next reunion will no longer take another 20 years.
