MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units (LGUs) have announced the suspension of classes on Friday, October 3, 2025, due to Tropical Storm Paolo (Matmo).

Tropical Storm Paolo Update
Tropical Storm Paolo continues to move northwestward over the Philippine Sea, according to PAGASA’s 8:00 PM bulletin on Thursday, October 2.
As of 7:00 PM, the storm’s center was located about 370 km east of Baler, Aurora, based on data from Doppler Weather Radars in Baler and Daet.
Paolo has maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 105 km/h, and a central pressure of 996 hPa.

Track and Intensity Outlook
Paolo is expected to move generally west-northwestward. On its current track, it may make landfall over Isabela or northern Aurora on Friday morning, October 3. A slight southward shift in the track remains possible depending on the strength of the high-pressure area north of the storm.
After crossing Northern Luzon, Paolo is forecast to emerge over the West Philippine Sea by Friday afternoon, then continue moving west-northwestward before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday morning, October 4.
Automatic Class Suspensions
In December 2024, the Department of Education (DepEd) released revised guidelines on the suspension of classes and work in schools during natural calamities.
