MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units (LGUs) have announced the suspension of classes on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, as safety precautions for the effects of Tropical Depression Mirasol.

According to state weather bureau PAGASA's 11:00 PM update on Tuesday, Tropical Depression Mirasol is moving westward while approaching Isabela-Aurora area.

At 10:00 pm Tuesday, the weather disturbance was estimated based on all available data including from Baler and Daet Doppler Weather Radars at 95 km East of Baler, Aurora or 65 km Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora.

It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and central pressure of 1006 hPa.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 is currently in effect over Batanes, Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Quirino, the northern and eastern portions of Nueva Vizcaya, the northern and central portions of Aurora, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, the northern portion of Ilocos Sur, the Polillo Islands, and the northern portion of Camarines Norte.

In December 2024, the Department of Education (DepEd) released revised guidelines on the suspension of classes and work in schools during natural calamities.
